Adj Assoc Professor Elizabeth Dabars AM, CEO/Secretary

Elizabeth is passionate about promoting and advancing the professional and industrial interests of nurses, midwives and personal care assistants.

CEO/Secretary since March 2008, Elizabeth works tirelessly to achieve the goals of ANMF (SA Branch) and to create a future that our members seek and so justly deserve.

Elizabeth worked as a personal care assistant during her undergraduate years, starting her career as a Registered Nurse in both metropolitan and country health settings upon completion of her degree.

After becoming increasingly concerned with a range of professional and workplace issues, Elizabeth completed further degrees in education and law. She has acted as an ANMF (SA Branch) Worksite Representative, Organiser, Industrial Officer and, since graduating from law, a Solicitor with ANMF (SA Branch) and Duncan Basheer Hannon, providing legal advice to many ANMF (SA Branch) members.

In addition to her qualifications in nursing, education and law, Elizabeth also holds qualifications in leadership and governance. Her academic status is held with Flinders University.

In the 2014 Elizabeth was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List in recognition of significant service to medical administration, particularly to nursing and midwifery, and to community and mental health organisations.
Rob Bonner - Director, Operations and Strategy

Rob Bonner is the Director, Operations & Strategy for the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (SA Branch). His role includes leadership of the South Australia Branch’s industrial, education and membership programs.

He led a national research team that established an Evidence-Based Methodology for Staffing and Skills Mix in Resident Aged Care.

Rob is Deputy Chair of the (National) Aged Care Industry Reference Committee established following the report of the Aged Care Workforce Taskforce and is a member of the South Australian Health, Aged care and Disability Industry Skills Council.

He is a member of the Steering Committee, Rosemary Bryant AO Research Centre a collaborative research centre established by the ANMF (SA Branch) and the University of South Australia and a Director of the Rosemary Bryant Foundation and of Union Legal SA.

Executive

Gay Martin, President, Executive Member

Gay has enjoyed a long and distinguished nursing career, working in many different roles in the renal field.  She has a Graduate Diploma in Nephrology Nursing and has undertaken Aboriginal studies. She is currently the NUM of the 24 bed renal transplantation ward of a major metropolitan public hospital.

Renal nursing has allowed her to take the best of Australian health standards and ANMFs achievements to improve conditions in places where unions were absent.  Gay was Director of Nursing in Singapore at the National Kidney Foundation from 1991 – 1993 and also worked in Malaysia and Indonesia.

Other than time spent overseas Gay has been a member of ANMF (SA Branch) Council or Executive since 1988.
Jocelyn Douglass, Vice President, Executive Member

Jocelyn has worked in both the public and private sectors in acute inpatient, general and psychiatric, and has spent all of her recent practice in acute community mental health.

She has been an active Worksite Representative for many years and has been a member of ANMF-SA Council since 2004 and of the Executive since 2006.
Janice Clifford, Executive Member

Janice works as a Clinical Nurse at a major metropolitan public hospital and is an active long standing Worksite Representative.

Promoting the safety of nurses and midwives in the workplace with optimal skills mix and staffing levels is her passion.

Janice has been a member of Council since December 2008 and became a member of the Executive in December 2012.
Lynn Croft, Executive Member

Lynn has a nursing career spanning general, paediatric and mental health nursing.

She is a long standing and active Worksite Representative.

Lynn has been a Council member since December 2004 and a member of the Executive since December 2006.
Sharon Horn, Executive Member

Sharon is a Registered nurse working as a Nurse Practitioner within the Comprehensive Epilepsy Program across two large metropolitan hospitals.

Sharon has been a Council member since December 2016 and a member of the Executive since December 2017.
 
Jo Duffy, Executive Member

Jo Duffy is a former Vice President of ANMF (SA Branch).

Jo has enjoyed an extensive and varied nursing career and currently works as a community nurse / midwife.  She is a long-term active worksite representative and rejoined the Executive team in December 2017.

Tammy Bornhoeft

Tammy worked initially as a personal care assistant in private aged care and currently works as an Enrolled nurse at a major metropolitan public hospital.  She is an active Worksite Representative and has been a member of the ANMF-SA Council since December 2010.
Kristen Bull

Kristen has an extensive career as a Registered nurse working in a variety of areas including medical wards, operating theatre, community outreach and renal. Her current position is as a Nurse Educator in Medical/Renal stream at a major metropolitan public hospital.
She has been a member of the ANMF-SA Council since December 2012.
 
Shareece Carr

Shareece is a Registered nurse currently working in regional South Australia. While there are some stark differences between country and metropolitan workplaces, including workplace size, Shareece has found there are also many similar issues on different scales including staffing levels, skill mix and workforce retention.  She has been a member of the ANMF-SA Council since October 2014.
David Copley

David has had a long association with the ANMF(SA) Branch as a Registered Nurse, and as an Indigenous consultant.  He has formal qualifications as a Developmental Educator, a Registered Nurse and a Mental Health Nurse.  He is the only Aboriginal person in South Australia to hold all three qualifications.  Along with his Nursing and Mental Health Nursing career, David also has extensive experience at senior management and board levels.
David became a member of the ANMF-SA Council in December 2018.
 
Wendy Husker

Wendy is an Enrolled Nurse with an Advanced Diploma of Enrolled Nursing working in public sector rehabilitation services. Wendy is passionate about rehabilitation and long-term care because improved understanding and utilisation of these can alleviate some of the pressures within our health care system.  She is also passionate about nursing and midwifery education and the contribution made by all specialities.  Wendy has been a member of the ANMF-SA Council since December 2016.
Marcelle Johnson 

Marcelle is a Registered nurse and Registered midwife with neonatal intensive care training. She currently works in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at a large metropolitan public hospital. She has a strong interest in OH&S and is part of the hospital’s Resuscitation Committee that audits code blues. Marcelle is a long standing active Worksite Representative. She has been a member of the ANMF-SA Council since 2006.
Nicole Kelly

Nicole is the Trauma Nurse Coordinator at a large metropolitan public hospital and Co-Chair for the South Australian State Trauma System and Committee. As an active member since becoming a Registered Nurse in 2003, she has contributed to workplace negotiations, Annual Delegates Conferences, and as a member of the ANMEC Course Advisory Committee.  She has been a member of the ANMF-SA Council since December 2010.
Nannette Lawson

Nanette has worked as a Registered Nurse at a large metropolitan public hospital since 2007, working as a graduate in ICCU and Orthopedics and Plastics, before joining the specialised Stroke and Neurology Ward in 2008.  She is an active worksite representative and became a member of the ANMF-SA Council in December 2018.
Deb Lewington

During her nursing career Deb has worked in a variety of roles, providing direct patient care and in leadership positions. She has worked in a number of SA major public hospitals as a Registered nurse, predominantly within Emergency Departments, Intensive Care and Surgical Units. She also has experience in finance and governance in nursing and not-for-profit charitable organisations.  Deb has been member of the ANMF-SA Council since December 2012.
Stuart Smith

Stuart has worked in Emergency Nursing, including in nurse-led Minor Injury Units and Walk-in-Centres, in several large teaching hospitals in both the UK and Australia. He became an Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ENP) in 1998.  He has a strong commitment to education, holding an Adjunct Lecturer position with the University of SA’s School of Nursing and is a facilitator on the Rural Emergency Skills Program.  Stuart has been a member of the ANMF-SA Council since December 2016.
Chanmaraka (Mak) Sun

Mak commenced his career as a Personal Care Worker in Aged Care and now works as a Registered Nurse in the GEM unit of a large metropolitan public hospital.  He is an ANMFSA activist and a strong advocate for improving the quality of care provided to elderly clients through person-centred care. Mak has been a member of the ANMF-SA Council since February 2018.
Jan Thompson

Jan is a Registered nurse with diverse skills and experience, having worked in theatre, as a community psychiatric nurse in country and metropolitan South Australia, as a Women’s Health Nurse and a Senior Lecturer, coordinating the Bachelor of Nursing program within the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at a major South Australian University. Jan has been a member of ANMF-SA Council since December 2002.
Sharon Whitehead

Sharon has an extensive career as an Enrolled nurse, based in country SA for the greater part of her career. She has been a committed and active member of ANMF (SA Branch) for many years, including as Worksite Representative for her current worksite, a small country public hospital.  Sharon has been a member of the ANMF-SA Council since December 2002.
 
Jayne Williams

Jayne has enjoyed an extensive career in a variety of roles – RN, Nurse Educator and NUM in ICU/ HDU/CCU.  She is currently working in a large metropolitan public hospital.  Jayne is a long term active worksite representative and is committed to the expansion of our professions into innovative roles that deliver the best evidence-based care for clients.   Jayne has been a member of the ANMF-SA Council since December 2016.
