Aged Care Work Value Case

The ANMF recognises a valued workforce with the right skills and knowledge is critical to the delivery of quality care for older Australians. This starts with fair wages for workers, a supportive workplace and recognition of the complex, often undervalued work involved.

Our landmark Aged Care Work Value Case at the Fair Work Commission (FWC) sought to improve award wages for aged care workers by highlighting the historic gender-based undervaluation of nursing and midwifery care work.

We are proud to have been involved in this historic case to increase minimum wages by 25 per cent for aged care employees, across three awards (Nurses Award, Aged Care Award and SCHADS Award).

Personal Care Workers received their final pay increase in October 2025 with Nurses to receive their final pay increase in August 2026.

The ANMF SA confirms the majority of aged care providers have implemented the pay increases, and we continue to advocate for members where providers have failed to do so.

The ANMF SA will continue to monitor aged care providers to ensure all the changes for the final tranche of pay increases for nurses are implemented appropriately and in accordance with Department of Health and Aged Care guidelines.
