Rob Bonner Scholarship

Nurses and midwives delivering innovative solutions within their field of work are encouraged to apply for the Rob Bonner Scholarship.

In honour of the inspiring, significant contributions of ANMF (SA Branch) visionary and leader, Rob Bonner, the $10,000 scholarship on offer will be awarded at this year’s Annual Professional Conference on 1 August 2024, aiming to:

  • Resource nurses and / or midwives to undertake an innovation project, to implement a practice improvement in their workplace that will benefit their work area and / or the wider nursing community locally, nationally, or even internationally.
  • Improve the requirement of high quality, appropriate, safe, available services when and where needed.
  • Support care that is coordinated and responsive to individual needs.
  • Improve staff wellbeing and workplace culture to support nursing and midwifery practice and develop service delivery and patient care.
  • Apply new models of care and approaches, to strengthen nursing and midwifery practice.

“I am thrilled that we are in a position to award the Rob Bonner Scholarship to the next generation of leaders, in recognition of Rob’s momentous impact on our industry,” ANMF (SA Branch) CEO/Secretary Adj Assoc Professor Elizabeth Dabars AM proudly stated as she announced the scholarship in August 2023.

Rob Bonner dedicated his expertise towards health education and passed down his knowledge to students over decades. Rob had also been a quintessential figure in shaping government policy, improving pay and working conditions for nurses, midwives and personal care workers.

Rob retired from his role as Executive Director Operations in June 2023 after 38 years at ANMF (SA Branch).

Due to an increased interest from members we have extended the closing date until 17th May 2024 COB, with interviews to take place in June 2024.
