Members can access advice and representation on industrial and related professional matters from specialist ANMF (SA Branch) staff. In addition to accessing expert in-house ANMF (SA Branch) staff, the ANMF (SA Branch) has a relationship with the law firm Duncan Basheer Hannon, who we refer matters to in accordance with the ANMF (SA Branch) legal services policy. The Professional Portfolio is essential to develop and provide documented evidence your of skills, qualifications and CPD. This is important for any Nursing and Midwifery Board audits on CDP and/or reclassification applications or job applications. The ANMF (SA Branch) also has a career advisory service that provides assistance with developing a curriculum vitae, responding to job applications, developing a professional portfolio and reclassification applications.

Protecting your income, for travel to and from work or study. Changes to Workers Compensation laws mean that the drive to and from work is no longer covered by the employer – so any injury sustained in a journey to or from work is not considered a workplace injury. Unless you have insurance, you may end up without an income. ANMF (SA Branch) members do have cover. Bothworking category members and student membersare covered (as long as they are financial). #9: Free on-line Continuing Professional Development tutorials, helping you achieve 20 hours CPD a year
ANMF (SA Branch) members have free on-line Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to over 100 on-line CPD tutorials. These self-directed learning tutorials are designed to provide Nurses and Midwives with best practice learning on health issues that can then be applied to nursing practice. This new benefit will assist members in meeting the required annual CPD hours. Results from each completed tutorial will be incorporated into an electronic record that can be added to your professional portfolio.
#10: Expert professional and industrial advice from the ANMF helpline including email advisory service on professional and industrial issues
The ANMF (SA Branch) provides a dedicated telephone advisory service to members on a broad range of industrial and related professional issues. Officers are available to answer questions and provide advice on work place issues Monday – Friday 09:00 – 17:00.

ANMF (SA Branch) members have the opportunity to contribute to and influence nursing and midwifery issues and health broadly at a State and Federal level. Members are invited to comment and contribute to issues of broad policy and debate and these comments are used to formulate numerous verbal and written submissions throughout the year.

The ANMF (SA Branch) owns and operates the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Education Centre, a Registered Training Organisation with a purpose built state-of-the-art learning centre that includes a skills laboratory that simulates a hospital environment. #18: An industrial expert to check work-related statements
Members will be assisted with the preparation of work-related statements as such statements may become a piece of evidence in a Coronial Inquiry or Nursing and Midwifery Board investigation.

Free access to the ANMF (SA Branch) library offering a wide range of up-to-date reference books, resources and assistance with searches and bibliographies. Books and journals can be accessed and reading these and recording that activity in your Professional Portfolio can count towards your 20 mandatory CDP hours.
#20: $10m Professional Indemnity Insurance
PII is important for everyone working in Nursing and Midwifery including Enrolled and Registered Nurses, Midwives, Assistants in Nursing and Midwifery and Personal Care Assistants. PII is important for everyone but essential for Nurses and Midwives as the Health Practitioners Regulation National Law imposes a specific obligation on Nurses and Midwives not to practice unless appropriate Professional Indemnity Insurance arrangements are in force in relation to their practice (Section 129). ANMF (SA Branch) PII protects members:
- sued for negligence or malpractice
- sued for damages arising from a public liability claim
- if you are given notice requiring you to attend before and inquiry / hearing of a court inquiry or professional board tribunal
- cover for professional indemnity (malpractice) - up to $10 000 000
- cover for public liability (negligence for injury to a third party, persons, or property)up to $10 000 000
