We’re pleased to announce that Nurses & Midwives Health is set to merge with Teachers Health, effective 1 January 2022.
The decision to merge with Teachers Health has been made to secure the long-term future of Nurses & Midwives Health. As one health fund, we’ll combine our efforts to create operational efficiencies and, in turn, focus on what matters most – supporting our members.
Why are we merging?
At Nurses & Midwives Health, we’re committed to supporting the health and wellbeing of Australia’s nurses, midwives, and their families.
To ensure we continue to deliver on this promise and strengthen the position of Nurses & Midwives Health well into the future, we’ve made the considered decision to merge with Teachers Health.
Teachers Health, like Nurses & Midwives Health, is a member-focused, not-for-profit health fund focused on supporting the health needs of those in our community who are dedicated to helping others.
Importantly, Nurses & Midwives Health members will benefit from the experience and economies of scale that come with being part of Australia’s largest industry-based health fund.
What does the merger mean for Nurses & Midwives Health?
While Nurses & Midwives Health and Teachers Health will officially operate as one health fund from 1 January 2022, each will retain their unique identities and branding.
The strength of the Nurses & Midwives Health brand will continue to flourish and our commitment to supporting the health insurance needs of Australia’s nurses, midwives, and their families will remain as strong as ever.
We’ll work closely with the ANMF (SA Branch) to ensure we continue to meet the needs of our members.
The eligibility criteria to join Nurses & Midwives Health remains the same. You need to be a member of the ANMF (SA Branch) to be eligible to join.
What does the merger mean for members?
We’re working hard to ensure the overall impact of the merger is minimal. Members will continue to receive the same dedicated support and service they’ve come to expect from Nurses & Midwives Health.
In fact, it will be business-as-usual with little difference to our day-to-day operations.
There’ll be some changes to the products we offer from 1 January 2022, but the good news is there won’t be any detrimental changes to products or pricing.
What’s next?
We’ve submitted an application to the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority to approve the merger. The merger is subject to their approval, which we expect to receive in the coming weeks.
In the meantime, it’s business as usual. There’s nothing members need to do; they can continue to claim and contact us as usual.
We’ll be contacting members in the coming weeks to provide another update regarding their specific cover.
