Safety win for Flinders staff

16 July 2020

Flinders Private Hospital staff have now been assigned a security guard to walk them to their cars at night, following concerns for their safety.

Starting this week, Flinders Private Hospital has made a security guard available to escort staff to their cars between 7.30pm and 11.30pm on weekdays. Staff are required to ring the security guard on a mobile number and arrange to meet in the hospital foyer.

The ANMF (SA Branch) has previously and persistently raised the issue of safety concerns with Flinders Private Hospital and welcomes the new measures implemented to help safeguard staff.

The new security arrangements follow months of campaigning by ANMF (SA Branch) members over potential vulnerability to violence.

Staff had expressed fears about walking to their cars at night, citing concerns over poor lighting. The State Government has since improved lighting.
