SA Health has launched recruitment to a central casual workforce pool that can be used to supply staff during the pandemic.

Both those members who are available to work (part time or full time) to assist in meeting workforce requirements overall are urged to visit the SA Health site and register your interest. The links are:

The NMBA is working to establish systems to fast-track re-registrations in the current environment and we will advise further as those mechanisms are clear. Read more.

The new recruitment drive is timely following an announcement by Prime Minister Scott Morrison that all non-urgent elective surgery will be suspended "until further notice" from midnight on March 26, due to the coronavirus.

We acknowledge this may impact on jobs related to elective surgery.

"Cancellation of elective surgery will allow the preservation of resources like personal protective equipment and allow health services to prepare for their role in the COVID-19 outbreak," Mr Morrison told reporters in Canberra.
