Perth woman Belinda Teh is walking from Melbourne to Perth to mobilise support from the 85% of Australians in favour of voluntary assisted dying (VAD)—an end-of-life option her mother Mareia was denied and instead experienced a brutal death from cancer.
Her journey of some three million steps—along with the support she garners along the way—is intended to lobby the Western Australian Government to introduce VAD laws to ensure no other Western Australian has to suffer like her Mum did two years ago.
She hopes her courageous passage on foot across some of Australia’s most remote locations will encourage Western Australians to contact their local MPs to urge them to act ahead of a vote in WA parliament later this year.
Meet Belinda and show your support – she has just arrived in South Australia!
Show your support for Belinda by meeting along her route as she travels through South Australia. Belinda crossed into South Australia this weekend and arrived in Keith Tuesday 11 June. Her route throughout the South East can be viewed here, where you can also RSVP where you’d like to intersect with Belinda. Your encouragement can make all the difference psychologically for this brave young woman!
