Following the Labor Government’s promise last week to establish a nurse-led primary health care clinic in Adelaide, the Health Minister has announced another $4 million to create specialist nursing roles to provide care for people with chronic and complex medical conditions.
ANMF (SA Branch) welcomes the proposed investment in five clinical coordinator roles to expand the scope of practice for more nurses, enabling them to develop advanced skills and increase their autonomy.
In making the announcement, the Government said the clinical coordinator roles will include five specialist nurses across a range of areas, including motor neuron disorder, childhood arthritis, diabetes and addiction.
The specialist nurses will provide physical, psychological and emotional support for patients from the time of diagnosis and throughout treatment.
at is their wish.
