Aged care provider joins our national call for more staff

As we gear up for our national day of action on 12 May to mark the official launch of the aged care campaign here in South Australia, we are thrilled to have received in principle support for the cause from local aged care provider Eldercare.

Eldercare has pledged its support for its staff to be active in the campaign calling for the Federal Government to legislate staffing ratios in aged care, having recognised that our national campaign is not targeted at aged care providers; but is in fact intended to heighten community awareness and seek greater funding for this embattled sector by encouraging politicians to prioritise these most frail members of society.

We know many aged care providers, particularly those in the not-for-profit sector, are doing their best to provide high-quality care with the available funding. But this funding just isn’t enough to pay for the staff needed to provide the level of care our nation’s aged care residents need and deserve.
