Manual Handling Mentor Training – 2 day workshop

This course is designed to give participants the confidence to become Manual Handling mentors within their work place, or an opportunity to enhance existing skills. The course includes the achievement of 2 nationally accredited units of competency:

HLTWHS005 Conduct manual tasks safely

BSBFLM312 Contribute to team effectiveness

And combines this learning with “No lift no injury” principles of safe manual handling

The course is designed to enable participants to complete learning and assessments online and then participate in a 2-day workshop to consolidate achievements and demonstrate skills in manual handling techniques, presenting and mentoring. It is suggested that participants have a minimum of 4 weeks prior to the 2-day workshop to complete the online learning and assessments

Participants must have a current Manual handling certificate

First Aid Course
This course is an accredited course with participants achieving the Unit of Competency:
HLTAID003 Provide first aid.

The course will cover the principles of first aid and incorporates on line learning and assessments combined with a 1-day practical workshop and assessment. The course is only available to members.

It is recommended that participants have a minimum of 2 weeks prior to the 1-day workshop to achieve the online learning and assessment.

Venepuncture Workshop
CPD 3 hours

This 3-hour interactive ‘hands on’ session will enable participants to understand the anatomy, techniques and safety related to Venepuncture together with the correct use of Venepuncture equipment and optimal specimen collection. These aspects, in conjunction with practical demonstration and practice will support the expansion of this skill set within a clinical setting. Participants will be provided with a Certificate of Attendance and a Log Workbook which they can complete and then present to their workplace for witnessing of successful venepuncture procedures.

Peripheral IV Cannulation
CPD 3 hours

In this session, through simulation and practical demonstration, participants are able to interactively learn and understand the anatomy, technique, safety and equipment necessary to successfully perform PIVC, along with indications/contraindications, complications, maintenance and removal. These aspects will provide participants with the knowledge and skill set to effectively perform PIVC in the clinical setting. Participants will be provided with a Certificate of Attendance and Log work book which they can complete and then present to their work place for witnessing of successful cannulation procedures.
