Consumer Directed Care (CPD 6 hours)
Consumer-directed care is the new paradigm for delivering supportive services to those who meet ACAT assessment criteria for Home Care Packages.  What this means in practice is that the funding within the Home Care Package goes directly to the individual rather than to an aged care provider as was done in the past. However, this practice is currently in its infancy in Australia and represents significant challenges for those receiving the package, those who wish to deliver services and for the government in monitoring the efficiency and effectiveness of this new way of delivering home-based care.  What might CDC mean for nurses, midwives, personal care assistants and any other healthcare professionals engaging in this community care process?
This workshop is designed to be interactive and enable you to explore your own preferences for the time when you might receive consumer-directed care through a Home Care Package.
