International Nurses and Midwives Day

Keep these dates in your diary:
Midwives’ Day – 5 May
Nurses’ Day – 12 May

International Midwives’ and Nurses’ Days are celebrated all around the world every year on 5 and 12 May. We would like to thank all nurses, midwives and care assistants for the important work they do.

This year, we have themed our branding around the importance of guaranteed safe care for both young and old as part of our national campaign to see legislated staffing ratios introduced into all aged care facilities across Australia.

Why do YOU love your job?
We’re encouraging nurses, midwives and personal care assistants to fill out your own versions of the cards from the downloadable pdfs below and to tell us why you love your job. We want to share your comments on our website and social media pages to highlight the great job you do every day.

You can download (go to bottom of page) the ‘why I love my job’ card to then print and give out to your fellow workmates, inviting them to join in.

Let’s show everyone why we love being part of the nursing and midwifery family and create a photo gallery full of comments and smiling faces.

  1. Fill in the card in no more than 8 words explaining why you love being a nurse, midwife or working in aged care using a thick marker pen
  2. Ask a workmate to take a close up *photo of you holding the card and send it to us at or upload it on the form below.
  3. All photos received will be added to our photo gallery on the ANMF (SA Branch) website and to our social media channels during the week of celebrations with the hashtag #INMWD2018
