ANMF secures health and safety win for members

28 June 2022

The ANMF (SA Branch) has secured a great win for the health and safety of Eldercare employees.

Members raised a number of concerns about receiving excessive text messages and phone calls on rostered days off and on annual leave and/or sick leave to fill gaps in rosters, with no option to opt out of the centralized rostering system.

ANMF (SA Branch) wrote to Eldercare with the below concerns and expectations.

Key features of the requests include:

The option for Eldercare employees to opt out of the continuous notifications
The option to not receive text messages/calls while on rostered days off and on annual leave and/or sick leave
For employees to have the choice of what sites they would like to receive notifications for, not daily contact for all Eldercare sites

Furthermore, we requested the unrelenting contact from the centralised rostering system cease immediately.

Initially the option to opt out of the centralized messaging system was denied, and therefore intruding on employees down time raising work health and safety concerns.

As a result of our advocacy and that of members, Eldercare has now approved the option to opt out of the centralized rostering system. An email has been sent out to all rostered employees to provide them with the option to inform the Service Resourcing Team Leader of their preference.
