A career in health care may just be the job security cure for these COVID-ravaged times.
Against the coronavirus-fuelled tide of mass redundancies, the health care profession is one industry which remains largely pandemic proof.
The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Education Centre (ANMEC) is a proven pathway to strong, secure career options, offering a wide range of courses in nursing, health and aged care, as well as disability, community and mental health care.
A service of the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (SA Branch), ANMEC was officially recognised by the State Government in 2019 as SA’s Training Provider of the Year and is a renowned industry leader in health-focused training solutions.
A big point of difference between ANMEC and other training providers is that each of our experienced coordinators and educators is a registered nurse (AHPRA registered) who has undertaken further education and is committed to providing the very best training and education possible.
What makes ANMEC stand out from other training providers is that each of our experienced coordinators and educators are nurses registered with AHPRA. They are industry current and have undertaken further education & training that demonstrates their commitment to providing the very best training and education possible.
ANMEC has successfully trained students in courses at Certificate III level since 2004, Diploma level since 2005 and Advanced Diploma level since 2009.
According to the Australian Industry and Skills Committee, health care and social services is the nation’s largest employing industry, with 1.7 million people within its ranks in 2019. It also recorded the most growth.
In fact, demand for services within health care is expected to grow long into the future and job opportunities may even increase during the COVID emergency.
According to the Nursing and Midwifery Workforce Climate Survey 2019 – Full Report, half of all survey respondents – SA nurses and midwives - were planning to leave their position within the next five years.
The aged, home care and disability sectors desperately need workers as more than 200,000 staff are due to retire in the next 15 years.
To enter the aged, home care or disability workforce, you will need to study one of the following certificates:
• CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing)
• CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability)
The two certificates are being offered from September 8 through ANMEC and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and culturally and linguistically diverse background applicants are encouraged to apply.

“I really couldn’t believe just how helpful the educators were at ANMEC and the variety of course options and training that was available,’’ said former student Silsila Verma.
