COVID-19 (coronavirus) has been declared a global pandemic. It is rapidly emerging and older people are vulnerable to developing serious symptoms if they become infected. As such it presents challenges to all those working in aged care.

ANMFSA are releasing CPD modules related to COVID-19 and infection control practices, with the first module released on Monday, March 16.

This first module is directed primarily to the aged care sector and will explain what the virus is and how it is transmitted. It provides information on how to protect yourself and residents, detailing the precautions workers should take in residential aged care to prevent and, where necessary, contain COVID-19. The module will provide advice on how to involve residents and visitors in minimising transmission.

Further modules for acute care settings, midwifery and primary care practice environments are under preparation and will be released in the coming days.

Access the online modules via the local CPD website (free for members) .
