The State Government has authorised the Women’s & Children’s Health Network to redevelop several existing clinical and non-clinical areas over the next six years while the new Hospital is built.
There will be four clinical areas directly affected:
- Boylan Ward – will be relocated and redeveloped to support contemporary nursing practice and models of care;
- Theatre Suites – upgrading of ventilation (heating, air conditioning), flooring and work surfaces;
- The Nurseries both NICU and SCBU – redevelopment with single rooms for six cots and the introduction of a negative pressure room;
- Paediatric Emergency Department – significant development with new mental health assessment areas, improved waiting room, triage area as well as multipurpose treatment rooms.
