Public sector EB - nurses and midwives ready to stand up for patient care

16 October 2019

The ANMF (SA Branch) is currently meeting with thousands of public sector nurses and midwives at sites across South Australia to provide an update on the status of enterprise bargaining negotiations with the State Government.

As the voice of nurses and midwives standing up for the community in their care, we are concerned by several key issues that remain unresolved as part of negotiations for a new SA Health nursing and midwifery enterprise agreement.

We need to ensure our public health services are safely staffed, adequately resourced and offers working conditions that attract and retain people in nursing and midwifery professions, yet these are the critical areas that remain unresolved and are of significant concern to our members.

Hundreds of members have attended meetings with the ANMF this week and voted unanimously to take action if an agreement with the State Government cannot be reached on these issues in the coming weeks. These meetings will continue throughout the week. If you’ve been unable to attend the meeting at your worksite, you can login to our website at www.anmfsa.org.au/standup to view a video of the content that is being presented to members across the State.

Taking action is entirely up to South Australia’s public sector nurses and midwives. Any action taken will not compromise patient care. Ensuring the community can continue to have access to safe, quality care is the primary reason our members are ready and willing to stand up and take action.
