Aged Care Provider To Discontinue Problematic Rostering System

19 June 2019

Aged care provider Helping Hand has discontinued piloting a central rostering system at three of its Adelaide facilities after a number of issues were flagged by ANMF (SA Branch) members at the sites.

Various process and technology problems with the new central system resulted in members reporting the following issues, including: an underpayment of wages, staffing gaps across some sites, a significant increase in the use of agency staff (and costs), and increased workloads for staff required to fill vacant shifts and a potentially compromised quality of care for residents.

Members have welcomed the news that Helping Hand will this week revert to site-based rostering at its Lightsview, Ingle Farm and Parafield Gardens aged care facilities.
