Year of the Nurse and Midwife 2020

The year 2020 marks the first time the World Health Organisation has dedicated a year to a profession - and that is because nursing and midwifery are not just any professions.

The impact of modern nursing and midwifery on improving health care dates  hundreds of years. One of the most famous nursing pioneers is Florence Nightingale, whose 200th birth anniversary is also being celebrated in 2020.

Artwork: Throughout 2020 we will be using a collage of 12 nurses, midwives and personal care workers and reflects the diversity of health settings, locations and clinical practice areas in which you provide care.
