Supporting each other in solidarity

To acknowledge our health care professionals in this most testing and uncertain of times, the ANMF (SA Branch) is launching its #KeepThemSafe Campaign, as a way of garnering public support for a community of health care workers under siege like never before.

As a sign of solidarity and support we want to encourage as many people as possible to put a sign in their window, write a message on their footpath or upload a picture or video of themselves on social media using the suggested messages:

We would love it if members could walk around the neighbourhood seeing public messages of support for them from the community and their fellow members.

  • Log-in to your Facebook Account
  • From your News Feed, click your name in the top left and hover over your profile picture.
  • Click Update.
  • Choose add a frame. Search for '#KeepThemSafe'
  • Crop your photo and click Save. If you don't want to crop your photo, click Skip Cropping in the bottom left, then click Save.

 




Why #KeepThemSafe?

Physical Safety

For you and your families; e.g. having the right PPE, enough staff to care for patients as well as ensuring you are protected from violence and fatigue.

Psychological safety

Making sure you have the emotional support to cope through this extremely challenging time.

Financial safety

Ensuring you have job security and appropriate leave conditions.

Community safety

Asking the community to stay home, part of the already viral #stayhome movement on social media to reduce hospital admissions to protect the health care system and in-turn, you, our valuable health care workers.

Florence Nightingale's words never rang so true

Long championed as the founder of modern nursing, Florence Nightingale had one very telling message to make in her celebrated 1859 nursing guide, Notes On Nursing: What It Is And What It Is Not.

"Every nurse ought to be careful to wash her hands very frequently during the day’’

More than a century and a half later those words have never rung truer or more pertinent as a world caught in the grip of the COVID-19 pandemic suddenly embraces the paramountcy of personal hygiene.
